It never fails that a morning person marries a night owl. A saver marries a spender. Opposites must attract because we see this phenomenon everywhere. But, by using the strengths of your differences, you can be an unstoppable team. The person who sees options, and ideas, and concepts easily can envision how their team could be extremely successful. Now, the big job is convincing the non-dreamer, the person who only sees facts that are apparent, visual, and in the now.
One thing you have in your favor while you are convincing your spouse is the fact that you know their strengths and weaknesses. Do your homework and find answers to the likely questions that your spouse would have. One of the most convincing things anyone can do is to show they care by carefully listening.
Do you have a history of failed plans? Then presenting what could appear as the next scheme or dream will require extra effort on your part. Compromise is not only needed with your spouse but in life. Your suppliers, your customers, your employees some day all will gain from your background of negotiations, so start at home. Convincing your spouse that you business idea is worthy is necessary when problems arise, and they will, and your spouses’ support can mean the difference in success or failure.
Why do you think your idea will work?
What obstacles do you see?
How will you solve potential problems?
Where will your start up money come from? What is your plan to pay it back? What if that doesn’t work, what is your plan B?
Will you be stopping your current employment to do this business, or do you have a gradual plan to work the new business along with your steady reliable job?
To be convincing, take the time to assemble your information, consider all the potential problems, and present your ideas by picking your best time. Is your spouse sleep deprived, hungry, or upset about another issue? Obviously those times are not the best to discuss something that could affect your lifestyles, your finances, and certainly your time commitments.
Think it through, go with a plan, and overcoming this obstacles puts you on the right track to be an extreme success. Also, realize that if you can’t convince you spouse, consider the fact that they probably know you better than anyone, just maybe you need to listen to them, and go back to the drawing board for a different idea that would be better received.
The idea that there is nothing new under the sun is ageless. A conversation recently shared about starting a business so there would be the creation of a legacy for their children caused much debate. It was interesting to over hear the conversation of the twenty-something group who believed this was a radical idea, but one with merit.
Consider in days gone by that it was not unheard of for your children to follow in the family business. A cobbler’s son most likely would be a cobbler. A merchant’s children would likely be merchants, and a farmer’s children would also be farmers. With the vastness of our universe, the ease of communication, and the variety that is everywhere, the idea that your children might follow in your footsteps can appear quaint. However, think twice about reviewing this concept.
Think of the lessons you will teach by being the family leader, taking an idea, creating a business, and making it profitable so it takes care of your family. Your children will see what you are creating, and likely participant, albeit not always their first choice. Even young children in today’s world are often very computer literate, and can offer much help to a budding enterprise. Pull together the family, get everyone on board, and you might be surprised at the legacy that pulling together creates. The worst that can happen is you leave a legacy of hard work, determination, try and try again, and just maybe you create a legacy that they will feel honored to pass on to their children someday as well.
Often an old idea can be revisited, and the truth that lie in the original idea, can be the nugget of your new creation. Children learn more from following a good example than they would from hearing how it should be done. Step out, create, and leave a legacy that outlives you and your efforts.
The one label that you could place on all successful entrepreneurs is they have tenacity. This means they are not easily sidetracked, and they have a huge desire to succeed. This is their best trait, and at times could be their worst. Due to their tenacity when it comes to their projections, it is often the case where their increased optimism plays into their projections.
Owning your own business always requires wearing many hats, and using your strong points. Equally being aware of your weaker points can enable you to surround yourself with people and resources that can compensate your weakness.
If your spouse is the money partner in your relationship, it might be a good idea to go over your figures and projections with that person. They most likely will ask questions and dig for answers that you didn’t even think about. If you however are right and left brained, besides possessing this good stubbornness called tenacity; then consider every option when you are planning your projections.
Some are wondering, why is any of this even necessary? There are two reasons that quickly come to mind. One, is you may need money at some point, and any lender will have questions about your expected future based on what you have done to this point. These questions are your projections. Also, whether you ever borrow any money or not, you need to think like a business person and gauge your business decisions on this information.
It’s Christmas and as much as we love our families, our friends, we all tend to think about what we would like as well as what we plan to give. Who hasn’t thought, I want a new life?
What better way to make what you are really worth than going into business yourself. Creative people find ways to do things better, they see new methods of doing things, and are often inspired with new inventions that could save time, or make something easier. You must be that type of person.
Christmas is the season of hope, the season of dreams, and the season of miracles. What better time to think about the possibilities of what could lie ahead. The end of any season in life makes one think of new starts. This is the end of another year, and soon we get a fresh slate to try again. Will this year bring about that new business that you dream about? If not, why not? What is stopping you?
If it is not to be this year, then what steps do you need to take so it can be a reality for the next year? Or, do you prefer only having dreams and not real goals. Somehow I doubt that is the case. It has been said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Why not you?
If you have a new home based business or will be starting one soon, you are likely thinking of ways to get the word out. Friends and well meaning relatives keep telling you that networking is the key to generating leads for your new home based business, but what happens when you work non-traditional business hours and can’t make the city chamber or business association networking meetings? After all, having the flexibility to work around your family’s schedule is exactly why you decided to start a home based business in the first place.
We have two words for you: Social Media.
We know what your thinking. Your idea is great, and you know how to do what you do; however, when it comes to computers and navigating the maze of social media networks to get the word out, you are unsure. Will using social media to network for your home based business really bring the sales leads you hope for?
It will if you understand the different networks and how your target demographic uses them.
Facebook is an extremely popular network used by consumers to keep up with their families and friends, but it can also help your home based business. For example, if you are trying to sell logo’d children’s T-shirts, where do you think parents are “hanging out” talking about what to get the kids for the holidays? That’s right…Facebook. You can even customize your Facebook business page to include e-commerce so consumers can buy those t-shirts right off your Facebook page! Not to mention, Facebook is a great way for friends and family to help you use that old fashioned word-of-mouth to promote your home based business that we all instinctively understand.
Consider Twitter, the new millennium “business lunch”. Classified as a micro-blog, Twitter allows users to say what’s on their mind in a fast 140 characters or less. Twitter can be an instant way to notify of sales, a special product launching, or some other quick notice that you want announced to many instantly. The best part? Twitter’s keyword trending analysis can tell you how many people are talking about products or services such as yours within a 100 mile radius!
LinkedIn is a social network used by professionals. Most often, professionals are searching for connections that will help them develop relationships with businesses that can become a strategic partnership. These relationships can be the life’s blood of your word-of-mouth advertising. A strategic partnership occurs when another business who sells a product or service to similar customers/clients as your business, but is not in direct competition with your home based business refers customers or clients to each other. For example, let’s say you sell work boots. Companies that sell uniforms, safety equipment, etc. but who do not sell boots might be companies that could be a strategic partner. Sometimes it takes a bit of research to find the best businesses to work with in this strategic way, but by using social media channels, it doesn’t take as long as you might think. With LinkedIn, you can search through millions of professional and business profiles to find the best possible strategic partnerships. Don’t let the venue fool you though, even though it is a professional network, you still need to cultivate those relationships.
Is networking important for the growth of your home based business? Absolutely! But not all networking has to be face-to-face. By using social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, you can begin developing those all important networking relationships online, then schedule an offline meeting so you invest that networking time wisely
The one label you could place on all successful entrepreneurs is that they have tenacity. They are not easily sidetracked, and they have a huge desire to succeed. This is their best trait, and at times could be their worst. Due to their tenacity, oftentimes their projections reflect their increasing optimism.
Owning your own business always requires wearing many hats, and using your strong points. Equally being aware of your weaker points can enable you to surround yourself with people and resources that can compensate your weakness.

Is your J-O-B not looking like the wonderful opportunity you thought it once was? Do you see a career change in your future?
Then you need to start thinking the word “referral.”
Whether you go from one job to another job, or decide to start your own business, either way you will need people who believe in you and are in your corner. Who are these people? What can they testify about? Do they know you to be dependable, hard working, goal oriented? Are you the person that cares about your fellow employees, about the company’s image and profits, and cares about his family?
Start now by listing all the people in your life from co-workers, to friends and past co-workers that easily can say good things about you. Then confide in a few that you may be looking for a new job or starting a new venture, and you could use their reference. Tell them that a career change is definitely in your future in one form or another, and ask for their advice and suggestions. Many things in life boil down to who you know. Starting a business is always word-of-mouth, which comes from people who believe in you and pass on that word to others.

Financial freedom sounds like an impossible goal some days. This is especially true when you are a college student, and looking ahead to your upcoming career when the classes are over, and the degree obtained.
College is a wonderful advantage for the military student. It is heartwarming to see college students that are also serving in the military, or seeing the stay-at-home moms of the military in online classes while they are raising children. The Internet has provided this wonderful opportunity. You can now attend classes anywhere from any location. Education has long been the path to financial freedom.
The first step is getting the education, but do not forget to factor in financial as well. If you are fortunate enough to have free education due to the military, then please do take full advantage of this opportunity as all opportunity does not knock twice. If you also have the opportunity to borrow money for education, question this considerably. Does this current financial windfall equate to financial freedom down the road? Often the answer is no.
As in a new business owner who struggles in the beginning to make a profit, without any loans from banks or investors, struggling to get your education without any college loans can also profit you greatly.
We all know the economy is not what it once was. Getting out of school does not immediately equate to a great paying job, or even a job at all in many cases. Be prepared, and take care of your finances throughout the whole path to educational betterment. You will never be sorry that you waited as you enjoy your financial freedom after graduation and that new career finally takes off.
